Email Body

Hi [[Candidate Name]],

Hope you’re doing well! 👋

We want to congratulate you as you have been selected to move forward in the process with Talento. I wanted to share a quick overview of what the interview process will be like, what we’re evaluating, and how you can prepare to stand out.

1. Video Overview of the Process

We’re including a short video that explains what to expect during the interview process and how the evaluation works.

Please take a few minutes to watch it before your interview, as it will give you helpful context on how we approach technical interviews and what we value in candidates.

2. What We Expect in the Interview (Problem-Solving)

Our technical interviews are designed to feel more like a real working session than a “school test”.

We’re evaluating how you think when the problem is not perfectly clear, and how you would collaborate with other team members.

Strong practices from senior developers:

  • Pause before coding and confirm understanding
  • Restate the problem in your own words
  • Ask strong questions about rules and constraints
  • Define a clear plan before implementing
  • Communicate your thought process clearly and calmly
  • Treat the interview like teamwork, not a test

🚫 What to avoid:

  • Jumping into coding too quickly
  • Getting stuck on examples, numbers, or algorithms instead of focusing on rules
  • Over-optimizing too early
  • Giving vague answers like “I think this works” without validating

👉 Mindset: We’re looking for someone who thinks like an engineer (structured, calm, clear) and who can be a strong teammate, not just someone who codes fast.

3. Live Coding Exercise

During the interview, expect a short and simple live coding/problem-solving exercise.

Best approach:

  • Clarify requirements
  • Define invariants (rules that must always be true)
  • Outline your plan
  • Then implement the code

This invariant-first thinking is exactly what we value in senior engineers.

We’re also including a link to the Roomvo demo: Roomvo Demo

Please make sure you try it before the interview, as we value candidates who are engaged and proactive from the start.

Closing

If you have any questions, I’m happy to support.

Excited to move you forward in the process.

Best, SMBS Talent Acquisition
